Former Miami Heat guard Tyler Johnson, known for his improbable rise from undrafted free agent to a significant NBA contributor, is embarking on a new chapter in his basketball journey. Johnson has officially been named an assistant coach at his alma mater, Fresno State, marking a full-circle moment for the veteran guard.
Johnson’s nine-year professional playing career, which included impactful stints with the Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and San Antonio Spurs, now provides him with a unique and valuable perspective to impart to the next generation of collegiate athletes. After playing four seasons for the Bulldogs from 2010 to 2014, where he emerged as a key leader and two-time All-Mountain West selection, Johnson defied the odds to make it to the NBA.
