BREAKING NEWS: Penn State’s Nick Singleton Invests $7.5 Million to Build Shelter for Homeless Youth
In an inspiring and unprecedented move, Penn State Nittany Lions rising football star Nick Singleton has pledged $7.5 million to convert his childhood home into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless and at-risk youth.
The facility, expected to open in 2026, will serve as a transitional living center for teens and young adults facing housing instability. Singleton’s goal is to provide not only a roof over their heads but also access to education, mental health support, vocational training, and mentorship programs.
“This is about giving kids hope and a future,” Singleton said in a heartfelt statement. “I was blessed with opportunity, and I want to make sure others get that same chance—no matter where they come from or what they’ve faced.”
The shelter, which will be called The Second Half House, is being developed in partnership with local non-profits and university-backed social work programs. It’s slated to include 25 residential rooms, a library, computer lab, fitness center, and fully staffed counseling wing.
Singleton, known for his explosive play on the field, has already earned a reputation as a leader off it. Teammates and coaches describe him as deeply grounded and committed to using his platform for good.
Penn State head coach James Franklin praised the initiative, calling Singleton “a role model in every sense of the word.”
In an era where college athletes are beginning to leverage their success for real-world impact, Singleton’s bold investment is a beacon of hope—and a reminder that greatness goes far beyond the gridiron.
