Heat Reportedly Intrigued by Kentucky Sharpshooter Koby Brea
The Miami Heat may be eyeing their next perimeter weapon. According to insider Greg Sylvander, the Heat are reportedly “intrigued” by Koby Brea — a red-hot shooting guard who wrapped up his fifth and final season of college eligibility at the University of Kentucky.
Brea, known for his lethal shooting stroke, made headlines during the 2023–24 season at Dayton, where he led the entire NCAA in three-point shooting percentage — hitting an astonishing 49.8% from deep (100-of-201). That marksmanship carried over to his lone season with Kentucky in 2024–25, where he maintained an impressive 43.9% from three while averaging 11.5 points per game in an expanded role.
His ability to stretch the floor is exactly what teams like Miami are seeking, especially under head coach Erik Spoelstra’s system that values pace, space, and versatility. Brea’s resume includes two Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year awards and pivotal performances in the NCAA Tournament, including 15 points against Nevada and 14 versus Arizona.
Standing at 6’6″, Brea isn’t just a catch-and-shoot threat — he’s shown poise, movement off the ball, and a calmness under pressure that suggests he could thrive in a structured NBA rotation. Miami, who continues to build around Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro, could benefit from Brea’s floor-spacing and off-ball gravity, especially as they look to bolster their bench production.
With the Heat known for developing undrafted or late-pick talent into contributors, Brea may be a prime target in the upcoming draft or as a summer league signing. His elite shooting alone makes him a valuable modern NBA commodity — and one Miami may not want to let slip away.
