In a significant move that underscores Penn State’s commitment to its storied linebacker tradition, former Nittany Lion standout Paul Posluszny has returned to Happy Valley as the new linebackers coach. A Storied Career at Penn State
Paul Posluszny’s tenure at Penn State from 2003 to 2006 was marked by exceptional performance and leadership. As a linebacker, he set a then-school record with 372 career tackles, becoming the first Nittany Lion to lead the team in tackles for three consecutive seasons. His accolades include winning the Chuck Bednarik Award twice (2005 and 2006), the Butkus Award in 2005, and being named a two-time first-team All-American. Additionally, Posluszny was a two-time Academic All-American, showcasing his prowess both on and off the field .
Transition to the NFL
Following his collegiate success, Posluszny was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He went on to have an 11-season career in the NFL, playing for the Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Notably, he earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2013 after leading the league with 122 solo tackles. Over his career, he accumulated more than 1,200 tackles, 16 sacks, and 15 interceptions .

After retiring from professional football in 2017, Posluszny pursued further education, earning an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. He then transitioned into the aerospace and defense industry, working with RTX in strategy and development .
