Game-Changer On and Off the Court: Jase Richardson Signs Multi-Million NIL Deal, Donates to Michigan State Basketball in Bold Move

In a groundbreaking move that’s capturing national attention, Michigan State University basketball star Jase Richardson has signed a multi-year Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) extension worth $8.5 million with Panini America, the globally recognized trading card and memorabilia brand. The standout detail? Richardson is donating a generous 30% of his NIL earnings — roughly $2.55 million — back to the Michigan State basketball program.

This landmark decision not only reinforces Richardson’s impact as a rising star in college basketball but also as a philanthropic leader. At just 19 years old, Richardson is using his platform and newfound financial power to directly invest in the very program that helped elevate his career. His donation will reportedly go toward player development, upgraded training facilities, academic support for athletes, and resources to enhance the program’s long-term competitiveness.

Richardson, son of former NBA star and Spartan alum Jason Richardson, has quickly emerged as a fan favorite. During his freshman season, he averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting over 48% from the field and over 41% from three-point range. His performances helped lead the Spartans to a Big Ten championship and an impressive run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.

While many NIL deals have been criticized for focusing solely on profit and personal branding, Richardson’s agreement with Panini America is being praised for its deeper purpose. In addition to the financial partnership, the deal includes exclusive trading cards, signed memorabilia, and digital collectibles that will help further build his brand and engage fans.

Panini America CEO Mark Warsop praised Richardson’s foresight and character: “Jase represents everything a modern athlete should be — talented, driven, and deeply connected to his community. His decision to give back so significantly sets a new standard not just in college sports, but in how NIL should be used to uplift others.”

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, one of the most respected voices in college basketball, called the donation “a selfless and powerful gesture that will leave a legacy far beyond Jase’s time on the court.” Athletic Director Alan Haller echoed the sentiment, noting that Richardson’s contribution will be transformative for future generations of Spartan athletes.

Richardson’s announcement comes just weeks after declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft. While some expected him to stay at MSU for another season, his outstanding play and maturity both on and off the court have convinced NBA scouts that he’s ready for the next level.

Jase Richardson’s actions reflect a powerful shift in the role of student-athletes in today’s game — not just as competitors, but as entrepreneurs and community leaders. His bold decision to give back while moving forward in his career is a compelling reminder that legacy is built not just through points and wins, but through character, generosity, and impact.

In an era where NIL deals are reshaping the college sports landscape, Richardson stands out as a game-changer in every sense.
