Jamal Murray made a name for himself in basketball with a sick jumper, but he woke up on the morning of Game 6 in the Western Conference Semis literally sick. He was reportedly a game-time decision, but the team medical staff pumped him full of fluids, and he gave it a go. Not unlike Michael Jordan’s famous flu game in the 1997 Finals, Murray once again made a name for himself by being sick. The Blue Arrow scored 11 of his 25 points in the first quarter, putting to rest any thought that he was going to let a little virus get the best of him. He played a team-high 42 minutes, scored 25 points, and had a plus-28 in the plus-minus category, also a game-high. The only indication Murray was sick was that he was sick of losing. He and the Nuggets pulled away in the 4th quarter to secure the pivotal Game 6 win, 119-107, to stave off elimination. When asked if he thought there was a chance he might not play when he woke up sick this morning, Murray said emphatically, “Absolutely not.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had an MVP-like 32 points on an efficient 13-18 from the field, but his role players did not step up like Denver’s did. Aside from former ‘Cat Cason Wallace, who had a respectable 10 points, there wasn’t much scoring outside of Chet Holmgren.

Now your two favorite Canadian Kentucky basketball players (with respect to Trey Lyles and Bernard Cote) will face off in the two greatest words in sports: Game 7. The win-or-go-home showdown will take place shortly after high noon on Sunday in the dusty streets of Oklahoma.

It is going to be sick.
