REPORT: Knicks, Heat, and Clippers Emerge as Frontrunners to Land Austin Reaves

REPORT: Knicks, Heat, and Clippers Emerge as Frontrunners to Land Austin Reaves

With NBA free agency looming, Austin Reaves has quickly become one of the most coveted names on the market—and the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly leading the race to land him.

Coming off a breakout season, Reaves averaged 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game while shooting an efficient 46.0% from the field. His production ranked him 34th in scoring and 24th in assists league-wide—elite company for a player still just scratching the surface of his potential.

Reaves has proven he can thrive both on and off the ball, making him an ideal fit for any contender looking to bolster its backcourt. His ability to create offense, knock down shots, and defend multiple positions has elevated his value significantly since entering the league as an undrafted free agent.

Miami Heat:

The Heat are in desperate need of additional shot creation and offensive firepower, especially if Jimmy Butler’s future remains in question. Reaves fits the Heat’s culture as a tough, smart, and unselfish player who could thrive under Erik Spoelstra. Pairing him with Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo could give Miami one of the most versatile young cores in the East.

New York Knicks:

The Knicks are looking to add another perimeter threat next to Jalen Brunson, and Reaves’ playmaking and floor spacing would provide a perfect complement. His ability to handle pressure in big moments—shown throughout his playoff appearances—would be a welcome asset in Madison Square Garden.

Los Angeles Clippers:

Should they lose James Harden or seek to get younger, the Clippers could offer Reaves a prominent role. Staying in L.A. could also appeal to Reaves, who’s become a fan favorite in Southern California.

No matter where he lands, Reaves is about to get paid—and he’s earned every dollar.
