Former Ole Miss baseball star Tim Elko is getting promoted to Major League Baseball.
Elko, 26, has been exceptional for Triple-A Charlotte, and now he’ll get a chance to prove it with the Chicago White Sox. The first baseman was promoted May 10, the Chicago Sun-Times confirmed. He entered Friday with a .348 batting average and 1.101 OPS, and has hit 10 home runs in 31 games.When Elko plays, it will mark his MLB debut. The White Sox are playing home games against the Miami Marlins on May 10 and May 11.
Elko played a pivotal role in the 2022 season and Ole Miss’ national championship victory. He led the team in home runs (24), slugging percentage (.642) and RBIs (75). In an iconic performance, he batted 4-for-5 with a home run in Game 1 of the College World Series finals against Oklahoma.
He was a three-year team captain for the Rebels. He remains a fan favorite and has a statue at Swayze Field.
