In a stunning turn of events that has taken both the sports and music worlds by surprise, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Cornhusker Marching Band has been officially crowned the number one collegiate marching band in the nation.
Known as “The Pride of All Nebraska,” the Cornhusker Marching Band has a rich legacy dating back to 1879. What began as a small ROTC band has grown into a 300-member ensemble made up of students from over 60 majors. Their performances are widely praised for their precision, creativity, and energy—delighting crowds during football halftime shows and major national events alike.
Under the leadership of Director Anthony Falcone, the band is recognized not just for its musical excellence, but for its discipline and dedication. Members undergo a competitive audition process, attend grueling rehearsals, and maintain strong academic records—many achieving GPAs above 3.5 or even a perfect 4.0.
The band’s annual Highlights Concert draws thousands of fans each year, and their upcoming appearance in a Netflix documentary is expected to bring their story to a global audience.
This latest honor cements their status as a cultural icon, not just in Nebraska but across the country. The Cornhusker Marching Band continues to inspire with its blend of tradition, talent, and unrelenting commitment to excellence.
