Tyler Mrus Commitment ELEVATES BYU Basketball | Kevin Young’s Vision Takes Shape as Big 12 Contender

Kevin Young hasn’t wasted any time reloading BYU’s roster. Just days into his first offseason as head coach, Young secured a commitment from Idaho transfer Tyler Mrus—a 6-foot-7 sharpshooter who brings immediate scoring upside to the Cougars’ frontcourt.

Mrus made his decision public on Thursday, during an official visit to Provo. The timing makes sense—he’s exactly the kind of floor spacer BYU needed. Mrus averaged 9.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Vandals last season and shot a clean 38% from beyond the arc.

He knocked down 73 threes as a redshirt sophomore, with a whopping 76% of his shot attempts coming from deep. That’s not just perimeter shooting—that’s commitment to it
