OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Duke softball junior Aminah Vega was tabbed a top-25 finalist for the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
The DeBary Fla., native has powered the Blue Devil offense through 52 games of the regular season, leading the team in batting average (.445), hits (77), doubles (17) and total bases (129). Vega is one of just three players to have started all 52 games this season, primarily at second base. Her 77 hits and 17 doubles on the year rank fifth and 14th nationally, respectively.
Vega has continued to build on her success after a standout sophomore season where she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-America honors and was named the 2024 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and recognized on the ACC All-Tournament team. This season, she has already tallied career-highs in batting average, hits and runs scored.
She is one of four representatives from the ACC, joining Cori McMillan (Virginia Tech), Maddie Moore (Clemson) and Isa Torres (Florida State) on the list.
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award is voted on by previous award winners, coaching representatives from nine Division I conferences in the 10 USA Softball Regions as well as members of national and local media who consistently cover Division I softball across the country.
