The smell of sweat and old leather clung to the walls of Westbridge’s locker room like a second skin. Beneath the roar of the crowd outside, something darker pulsed in the silence—a secret no one dared speak aloud.
Coach Brent Pry had transformed the Westbridge Titans from a floundering mid-tier team into a championship powerhouse in less than two seasons. His methods were praised. His intensity was legendary. But behind the glossy headlines and roaring fans, there was a hidden engine fueling their meteoric rise.
It started quietly, almost innocently.
After another brutal midseason loss two years ago, Pry had called a closed-door meeting with a few handpicked players—star quarterback Danny Rhodes, linebacker Malik Shaw, and wide receiver Austin Vance. The players remembered the coach’s words as if they had been etched into stone.

From a locked drawer in his office, Pry pulled out small vials—clear, innocuous, medical-looking. No labels. No questions asked.

And somewhere out there, under a different name and a new team, Coach Brent Pry probably still whispered the same poisonous promise:
