Said Benrahma has said there was “no hesitation” from him to leave West Ham in the January transfer window.
The winger left the London Stadium to join Lyon in Ligue 1 earlier this winter on loan until the end of the season.
Benrahma, 28, has since played four times for his new club in all competitions and has chipped in with a single goal.

He has opened up about his move away from the Hammers and has told Telefoot on X (3 March): “Lyon showed a real interest in me. There was no hesitation about that. Afterwards, I can feel the support of the city of Lyon.”
Said Benrahma has say on West Ham exit
Benrahma’s heart was obviously set on heading back to France and it would have been hard for West Ham to stand in the way of him going. In addition, David Moyes won’t want players in his squad who are not 100 per cent committed the cause.
The Algeria international’s departure frees up space and funds in the Hammers’ squad to potentially bring in reinforcements in his position in the future.
West Ham signed the winger back in 2021 from Brentford and he has since been a useful option for them going forward. He has made 120 appearances in all competitions for his parent club to date and has chipped in with 23 goals, 12 of which came last term.
However, he didn’t score in 20 outings during the first-half of this campaign and saw his form dry up, hence why he was given the green light to head out the exit door when Lyon came calling.
