Ortega Oweh breaks out new offseason haircut as he goes through NBA Draft process
In the meantime, he broke out the clippers. On Monday morning, Kentucky associate head coach Alvin Brooks posted a picture of Oweh’s new offseason haircut. Oweh has exchanged his dreadlocks for a fresh buzz cut.
It will take a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to the new-look Wildcat. What do we think, BBN?
What do we think of Otega Oweh’s new haircut,
After leading Kentucky in scoring (16.2 PPG) as a junior last season, Oweh elected to enter his name into the NBA Draft pool while maintaining his college eligibility. By declaring for the Draft, he will be able to participate in the NBA Combine and go through individual workouts with NBA teams over the next two months. The NBA Draft withdrawal deadline is June 15 at 5:00 p.m. EST — meaning we could be waiting several weeks before learning if Oweh stays or goes.
But if current NBA Draft Big Boards are any indication, Oweh has some work to do if he wants to hear his name called in the two-round draft. His name is not mentioned in any mock drafts from major publications. ESPN’s latest Big Board update has Oweh ranked 86th overall, but keep in mind there are only 59 picks in this year’s draft.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has reloaded his roster this offseason as he prepares for year two. If we include Oweh, there are 12 players on board for 2025-26. Pope appears to be on the hunt for another addition or two, as well. But getting Oweh, who was named Second Team All-SEC, back in the fold as the centerpiece and Preseason SEC Player of the Year candidate might end up being the biggest move of the entire offseason.
