South Carolina State University’s Oliver “Buddy” Pough to be Inducted into the SC Football Hall of Fame
South Carolina State University’s renowned head football coach and current interim Athletics Director, Oliver “Buddy” Pough, is among the five individuals set to be inducted into the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Hotel Hartness in Greenville, South Carolina.
*The Inductees*
– *Oliver “Buddy” Pough*: A legendary figure in South Carolina State University’s football history, Pough boasts an impressive record of 146 wins, eight MEAC titles, and five HBCU Football National Championships. As a player, he was an offensive lineman for the Bulldogs, and later returned as an assistant coach before becoming the head coach. Pough will become the ninth Bulldog to be enshrined in the SC Football Hall of Fame.
– *Troy Brown*: A wide receiver who played for Marshall University and the New England Patriots, Brown is a native of Barnwell, South Carolina.
– *Coach Jim Carlen*: A legendary coach and athletic director, Carlen’s legacy will be honored as a part of the 2024 Class.
– *Duce Staley*: A talented running back from West Columbia, South Carolina, Staley played for the University of South Carolina and went on to have a successful NFL career.
– *Jim Stuckey*: A Clemson All-American and defensive tackle who played for the San Francisco 49ers, Stuckey hails from Cayce, South Carolina.

The induction ceremony will begin with a 5 p.m. reception, followed by a 6 p.m. buffet dinner, and the program will start at 7 p.m. The event will honor the achievements and contributions of these five individuals to South Carolina’s rich football history ¹.
