Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky forward, sent a message of support to Houston Cougars’ head coach Kelvin Sampson after Duke’s loss to Houston in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four. Reese’s 8-word message read, “I love him man. Such a great coach!!” This comes after LSU women’s basketball assistant coach Gary Redus expressed his admiration for Sampson, saying he couldn’t imagine anyone not cheering for the veteran coach ¹.

Duke’s loss to Houston was a heartbreaking one, with the Blue Devils holding a lead late in the game only to see Houston stage a comeback. Cooper Flagg’s potential game-winning shot narrowly missed, and Houston’s LJ Cryer sealed the win with two free throws.

Reese’s message to Sampson highlights her admiration for the coach’s dedication and journey in college basketball. With a career spanning nearly five decades and close to 1,200 games, Sampson is now just one win away from capturing his first NCAA title.

Reese has been making waves in the WNBA, recently recording 22 rebounds in a game against the Las Vegas Aces, making her the first player in WNBA history to register at least 20 boards in three straight games. Despite a tough loss, Reese kept a positive mindset, saying, “If it was easy, everybody would be doing it. We good!” ².
