Baylor’s Ezekiel Named Big 12 Indoor Performer of the Year

Baylor University’s track and field program is celebrating a significant achievement as senior sprinter Favour Ezekiel has been named the Big 12 Indoor Performer of the Year. Ezekiel’s standout performances throughout the indoor season have not only garnered individual accolades but have also played a pivotal role in the success of the Baylor track and field team. The award highlights her dominance in the sprinting events and the impact she has made on the conference as one of the top athletes.

Ezekiel’s journey to this honor has been nothing short of impressive. The Nigerian-born sprinter has been a key figure for the Baylor Bears for several seasons, but this year, she took her performances to new heights. She delivered a series of career-best results during the Big 12 Indoor Championships, where her speed and consistency shone brightly.

One of the most memorable moments of her indoor season came in the women’s 60-meter dash at the Big 12 Championships. Ezekiel set a personal best and a meet record with an astounding 7.12-second finish, capturing the title and demonstrating her elite sprinting capabilities. Her explosive start and impressive finishing speed throughout the season made her one of the toughest competitors in the conference.

Additionally, Ezekiel was instrumental in Baylor’s relay teams, where her speed and leadership helped propel the team to competitive finishes in both the 4×400-meter relay and the 4×200-meter relay. Her ability to perform in high-pressure situations and deliver under the spotlight showcased her value not only as an individual sprinter but as a key team player as well. These team events were integral to Baylor’s overall success and helped bolster Ezekiel’s candidacy for the Performer of the Year award.

Baylor head coach Michael Ford spoke highly of Ezekiel’s work ethic and leadership, acknowledging her influence on the team’s success. “Favour has been incredible this season, and this award is a reflection of all the hard work she has put in over the years. She’s a tremendous athlete, but more importantly, she’s a great leader. Her dedication to her craft and her teammates has been inspiring for everyone on our team,” said Ford.
