Cooper Flagg Had Interesting Reaction To Duke’s ‘One More Year’ Chant

In a poignant moment during Duke University’s final home game of the season, freshman sensation Cooper Flagg was serenaded by the Cameron Crazies with chants of “one more year.” The game, a dominant 93-60 victory over Wake Forest, may have marked Flagg’s last appearance at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Flagg, who has consistently been projected as the top pick in the upcoming NBA draft, has previously expressed a desire to return to Duke for another season. In a recent interview, he remarked, “I want to come back next year.” However, the likelihood of him staying is uncertain, given his exceptional performance and the professional opportunities awaiting him.

During the game, as Flagg exited with just over three minutes remaining, the crowd’s heartfelt plea resonated throughout the arena. In response, Flagg, with a smile, gestured toward the fans, saying, “Run it back,” a remark that was met with laughter from his parents seated nearby.

Post-game, when questioned about his future, Flagg remained non-committal, focusing on the present. He stated, “I’m living in the present right now. I’m living in the moment. Taking it day by day, practice by practice, game by game. I don’t know what the future holds.”

This display of affection from the fans underscores Flagg’s significant impact on the Duke community. Throughout the season, he has delivered standout performances, including a 28-point, eight-rebound, and seven-assist game against Wake Forest. His versatility and skill have been pivotal in Duke’s impressive 27-3 record, positioning them as strong contenders in the upcoming March Madness tournament.

As the season nears its conclusion, both fans and analysts are keenly awaiting Flagg’s decision. While his potential return to Duke would be a boon for the team, the allure of the NBA and his projected status as the first overall pick present compelling reasons for him to turn professional. Regardless of his choice, Flagg’s tenure at Duke has been marked by excellence, leaving an indelible mark on the program’s history.
