After a remarkable season that saw Ohio State rebound from a late loss to Michigan and secure the College Football Playoff National Championship, head coach Ryan Day earned a significant contract extension.
On Thursday, Day and the Buckeyes finalized a seven-year deal worth $12.5 million per year, making him the second-highest-paid coach in college football, just behind Georgia’s Kirby Smart.
Shortly after signing his new contract, Day made headlines with a generous gesture—donating $1 million to mental health programs at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
“Day has been a champion for mental health awareness after losing his father many years ago,” The Silver Bulletin wrote in a post on X. “A true leader and representative of the university.”
His decision sparked widespread praise from the college football community.
