Former Ohio State forward Jamison Battle has officially earned a long-term spot in the NBA. After starting as an undrafted free agent and working his way through short-term deals, Battle has now signed a three-year contract with the Toronto Raptors, confirming his place in the league, according to ESPN.
Battle first caught the Raptors’ attention during the NBA Summer League, where he made an impact by averaging 7.4 points in just 14 minutes per game, shooting an impressive 9-of-15 from threeacross five appearances. His strong performance led Toronto to sign him to an Exhibit 10 deal, which was later converted into a two-way contract between the Raptors and their G League affiliate, Raptors 905.
Despite beginning the season as a two-way player, Battle quickly proved his value at the NBA level. He has appeared in 35 games so far, averaging 5.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest, while shooting 41.7% from beyond the arc. His new contract signals that the Raptors see him as a key contributor moving forward.
Before making the leap to the NBA, Battle played one season at Ohio State after transferring from Minnesota. With the Buckeyes, he averaged 15.3 points per game and shot 43.3% from three, showcasing the sharpshooting ability that has now earned him a full-time NBA contract.
With this deal, Battle not only secures his NBA future but also has the opportunity to further develop and solidify his role within the Raptors’ lineup.
