The No. 2-ranked Duke Blue Devils continued their impressive season with a commanding 83-54 victory over the Syracuse Orange at the JMA Wireless Dome on Wednesday night. This win marked Duke’s 16th consecutive, bringing their record to 20-2 overall and 12-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Duke’s offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 56.6% from the field. Freshman Tyrese Proctor led the team with 16 points, while fellow freshman Cooper Flagg added 11 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Kon Knueppel also contributed 12 points, and Sion James chipped in 10 points, four assists, and three steals.
Syracuse struggled throughout the game, shooting just 38.3% from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc. Jyare Davis and J.J. Starling each scored 12 points, and Naheem McLeod added 10 points. The Orange were also without key players Donnie Freeman and Chance Westry due to injuries.
Duke established dominance early, leading 37-23 at halftime. The Blue Devils capitalized on Syracuse’s turnovers, holding a 23-7 advantage in points off turnovers. Duke’s strong three-point shooting and defensive prowess kept Syracuse at bay throughout the game.
