The Washington women’s basketball team fought hard but ultimately lost to No. 8 Ohio State, 66-56, in Columbus on Sunday.
Cotie McMahon led Ohio State with 19 points and five rebounds, while the matchup marked the first time the two teams faced each other as members of the Big Ten.
Hannah Stines paced Washington (13-9, 4-6 Big Ten) with 17 points, and Dalayah Daniels added 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. The Huskies kept the game competitive, never trailing by more than 12 points, and trimmed Ohio States lead to just two (50-48) on a three-pointer from Devin Coppinger early in the fourth quarter. However, they couldn’t get any closer.
Freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge contributed 13 points and five rebounds for Ohio State (20-1, 9-1), who extended their winning streak to three games. Chance Gray also chipped in with 11 points, as the Buckeyes remained perfect at home, improving to 11-0 this season.
