Ohio State Targets New Quarterback Prospects, Continues Recruiting Efforts

With the recruiting dead period fast approaching, the Ohio State coaching staff has been busy, capitalizing on the momentum following their national championship win. On Thursday, the Buckeyes made new offers to quarterbacks for both the 2026 and 2028 classes, continuing their search for future stars.

Bowe Bentley (2026) Offered by Ohio State

Ohio State is still in evaluation mode as they seek the perfect quarterback for the 2026 class. Despite some of the top players in this group already committing elsewhere, the Buckeyes are not slowing down. On Thursday, they extended an offer to Bowe Bentley, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound quarterback from Texas. Bentley, currently ranked as the No. 291 player nationally and the 18th-best quarterback according to the 247Sports Composite, now has nearly 30 offers, including interest from Arizona, Florida State, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Ohio State’s offer is one of the most impressive in his collection, and it signals their strong interest in him.

With an elite player already signed for the 2025 class and another top commitment for 2027, Ohio State’s 2026 quarterback recruiting remains a puzzle. Bentley’s offer highlights the continued efforts to solidify this position for future seasons.

Wonderful Monds (2028) Offered Early by Ohio State

Looking even further ahead, Ohio State made a move for a quarterback in the 2028 class, offering Wonderful Monds, a rising prospect from Florida. Monds, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound freshman from Vero Beach, has already drawn offers from multiple schools, including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and Miami. Ohio State’s involvement in his recruitment this early on is notable, as they look to stay ahead of the competition. While Monds is still far from making a commitment, the Buckeyes early interest could give them a strong position in the years to come.

Recruiting Visits and Updates

As part of their ongoing efforts, Ohio State’s coaches have been on the road visiting top prospects. Brian Hartline made a stop in Florida to meet with Jabari Brady, a four-star receiver and the No. 62 player nationally. Brady, ranked as the 11th-best receiver in the 247Sports Composite, holds nearly 40 offers, and Ohio State remains a key contender in his recruitment.

Coach Ryan Day also made a trip to Vero Beach, not only to offer Monds but also to visit Micah Smith, a four-star offensive line target for the 2026 class. Smith, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound prospect, is ranked No. 73 nationally and is considered one of the top offensive line recruits. Ohio State is showing a strong desire to add him to their lineup, continuing their focus on building depth and talent on the offensive line.
