Donovan Edwards Ignites Controversy at Senior Bowl—Ohio State Fans Clap Back with Brutal Reality Check

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Michigan fans, it’s that they don’t let go of the past—especially when it comes to Ohio State. Ever since the Buckeyes claimed the national championship, Wolverines faithful have been scrambling to remind everyone who dominated The Game in recent years. And at the Senior Bowl, Michigan running back Donovan Edwards took that pettiness to another level.

Edwards, who found himself in the middle of a heated rivalry debate, didn’t hold back when speaking with Simone Eli. When asked about Michigan’s recent success against Ohio State, he went straight for the jugular:

“Which ones? I’ll do ya one better. We won the Big Ten Championship for the first time in over a decade and beat Ohio State. My sophomore year? Another Big Ten title, another win over OSU. Junior year? National championship. And oh yeah—beat Ohio State again.”

That wasn’t just a flex—that was a straight-up knockout punch. But he didn’t stop there. Edwards doubled down with a backhanded reminder:

“Much respect to Ohio State for winning the national championship. But guess what? We beat them four times in a row. So, none of them can say anything about beating us. And, uh, they didn’t get any gold pants either.”

For the uninitiated, that gold pants comment was a deep cut. Ohio State players and coaches receive golden charm pendants when they beat Michigan—a tradition dating back to 1934. And for four straight years, Buckeyes have walked away empty-handed. No charms. No bragging rights. Just annual heartbreak.

But, of course, Ohio State fans weren’t about to let Edwards’ trash talk slide without a response.

Ohio State Fans Deliver a Ruthless Reality Check

The moment CBSSports posted Edwards’ interview clip, Buckeye Nation flooded the comment section like it was the fourth quarter at The Horseshoe. And let’s just say, they weren’t exactly in a forgiving mood.

One fan fired the first shot, bringing up the elephant in the room:

“Replay this when the NCAA rules on Michigan’s cheating scandal! All imaginary. NEVER HAPPENED.”

Michigan fans might be holding onto their recent success, but Buckeye Nation is holding onto something else—the massive cloud of sign-stealing allegations that still looms over Ann Arbor. The NCAA is breathing down Michigan’s neck, and with all the rumored evidence, some OSU fans are treating those four wins like they never existed.

Another Buckeye fan doubled down:

“They act like they didn’t cheat for four years straight! Harbaugh got suspended twice in one season, then bolted for the NFL!”

Yikes. Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal was one of the biggest stories in college football. Former head coach Jim Harbaugh’s mid-season suspension was already a bad look. But then he left for the Los Angeles Chargers, conveniently avoiding any NCAA punishments. Ohio State fans? They see it as a smoking gun.

But it wasn’t just cheating allegations that had Buckeye fans coming after Edwards. His own performance was under the microscope too. One user hit him where it hurts:

“Bro should be worried about the fact that he destroyed his draft stock this year.”

And they’re not wrong. In 2022, Edwards looked like the next big thing in college football, racking up nearly 1,000 rushing yards. But in 2023? He barely cracked 589 yards. That’s a massive drop-off. A year ago, people were hyping him as a first-round talent. Now? He’s looking like a Day 3 hopeful at best.

Another Buckeye fan took the disrespect to another level:

“Is this dude even getting drafted or what?”

Ouch. This is the same Donovan Edwards who, just a year ago, was being hyped as Michigan’s next elite NFL running back. But after a shaky 2023 season, scouts are raising eyebrows. Right now, he’s on the outside looking in for early-round draft picks. If he doesn’t show out at the Senior Bowl or the NFL Combine, he might be battling for a practice squad spot instead of a top draft selection.

Can Edwards Back Up His Words?

Look, Edwards talked his talk—and technically, he can. Michigan did own Ohio State for the past four years. But the Buckeyes just hoisted a national championship trophy, and they’re getting the last laugh.

More importantly, Michigan still has to deal with the looming NCAA investigation. If the Wolverines get hit with serious punishments, all this trash talk could backfire in the worst way. And as for Edwards? He might want to shift his focus from Ohio State slander to ensuring he actually hears his name on draft night.

Because right now, Buckeye fans have one pressing question:

“Bro… are you even getting drafted?”
