Throughout this season, Alabama football quarterback Jalen Milroe has closely followed Jalen Hurts and his Philadelphia Eagles. Speaking to reporters in Mobile ahead of his participation in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, Milroe discussed his admiration for Hurts, who recently led the Eagles to the NFC Championship and a spot in the Super Bowl.
“Jalen Hurts’ journey and who he is as a person are always inspiring,” Milroe shared. “I tune in every time the Eagles play. I appreciate our relationship, and it’s only going to grow.”
Both Hurts and Milroe hail from the Houston area. Hurts transferred to Oklahoma for his final college season after losing the starting job to Tua Tagovailoa at Alabama. He later played in the Senior Bowl and was drafted in the second round by the Eagles in 2020.
Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy noted similarities between the two quarterbacks, stating, “When Jalen Hurts was here four or five years ago, he was considered a fourth or fifth round pick by most teams. Jalen Milroe is currently rated higher on most teams’ boards, so he’s starting from a better position.”
As Milroe prepares for the Senior Bowl, he continues to draw inspiration from Hurts’ success and aims to follow a similar path to the NFL.
