Former Alabama standout and current Charlotte Hornets guard/forward Brandon Miller will miss the rest of the regular season due to a wrist injury. According to a team press release, Miller underwent surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. The procedure was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
In his second NBA season, Miller averaged 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in 27 games, making him one of the league’s top performers in three-pointers, with 3.9 per game.
Drafted second overall in 2023, Miller made an impressive debut, averaging 17.3 points per game and finishing third in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting. He earned All-Rookie First Team honors and three Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month awards.
Over the summer, Miller honed his skills with the United States Select Team, practicing against future gold medalist Team USA. He is the highest-drafted Crimson Tide player since Antonio McDyess in 1995.
A 5-star recruit from Antioch, Tennessee, Miller led Alabama to an SEC regular season title, an SEC Tournament championship, and a Sweet Sixteen appearance. He averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc. His exceptional performance earned him numerous accolades, including First Team All-SEC, SEC Freshman of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, and Second Team All-American.
Miller’s absence will be felt by the Hornets, but his future remains bright as he continues to recover and build on his promising career.
