Ravens’ Cornerback Humphrey Wants Chiefs’ Dynasty to End

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, and Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey is showing his support for the Bills. Or perhaps, he’s rooting against the Chiefs, as he hopes Kansas City won’t secure its third consecutive NFL championship if it advances to Super Bowl LIX.

Humphrey candidly shared his sentiments on social media, admitting, “I have no reason for saying this other than being a hater. The Bills or whatever NFC team gotta beat the Chiefs. We can’t let them keep getting away with this.”

The Bills ended the Ravens’ season last week with a narrow 27-25 victory in the Divisional Round. Last season, the Ravens, as the No. 1 seed, lost 17-10 to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

Reflecting on past matchups, Humphrey noted his relief when the 49ers won the NFC Championship Game over the Lions, believing they stood a better chance against the Chiefs due to their discipline and defense. However, despite his hopes, Kansas City triumphed over San Francisco 25-22 to win Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, 2024.

The Ravens have accumulated 25 regular-season wins over the past two seasons but have not reached the Super Bowl. Since Humphrey entered the NFL in 2017, the Chiefs have consistently outperformed Baltimore in regular-season victories and have played in four Super Bowls. The 49ers, Rams, Patriots, and Eagles have appeared in two each, while the Bengals and Buccaneers have made single appearances, leaving the Ravens without an NFL championship game appearance in that period.

After the Ravens’ recent loss to the Bills, Humphrey expressed uncertainty about the future, acknowledging that some players would stay, and others would leave. With two seasons remaining on his five-year, $97.5 million contract, Humphrey’s status includes a $14 million salary for the 2025 season and a $4 million bonus if he’s on Baltimore’s roster by March 16. As he put it, “We lost. Get over it. And we’ll kind of see where the offseason goes.”
