From Volunteer to Coach: Darel Middleton Brings Championship Experience to Catholic High’s Football Program
Catholic High School has appointed former University of Tennessee defensive lineman Darel Middleton as the new head coach for their youth middle school football team in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The school expressed its enthusiasm in a statement, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Darel Middleton as our youth middle school head coach. Coach Middleton not only earned All-State honors during his high school career, but also went on to play for the University of Tennessee. We are excited to have him join our Irish family.”
Middleton’s football journey at the University of Tennessee spanned from 2019 to 2020 under the leadership of head coach Jeremy Pruitt. During his time with the Vols, he participated in 22 games. He recorded a total of 43 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for a loss, and registered two sacks, two pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick.
This experience, coupled with his solid background in football, positions Middleton to inspire and guide the next generation of players at Catholic High School. The school community looks forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly have on the youth football program. With his strong foundation as a player and his leadership skills, Middleton is poised to shape the future of young athletes, helping them develop both on and off the field.
