COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s standout cornerback, Davison Igbinosun, has decided to return for his senior season rather than declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Igbinosun, who transferred to Ohio State from Ole Miss, has made an impact over the past two seasons with the Buckeyes. In that time, he has tallied 104 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions.
At 6-foot-2 and 193 pounds, Igbinosun’s physical attributes make him a promising NFL prospect. However, there’s an area he’s looking to improve before taking that next step: penalties. In the 2024-25 season, Igbinosun was flagged for 16 coverage penalties, the highest in the nation. Nevada’s Chad Brown had the second-most with 11.
Pro Football Focus recorded Igbinosun allowing 32 receptions on 60 targets for 368 yards during the season. Despite these areas to improve, his decision to return gives him a chance to refine his skills and solidify his draft stock.
A native of Union, New Jersey, Igbinosun was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. With Denzel Burke heading to the NFL, Igbinosun will be joined by Jermaine Mathews in what’s shaping up to be a formidable starting duo at cornerback for the Buckeyes in 2025.
