Ohio State linebacker Mitchell Melton’s transfer announcement might have flown under the radar—if not for an amusing geographical mix-up. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound player, who entered the transfer portal before the Buckeyes’ national championship game but stayed with the team through the title bout, mistakenly referenced the wrong city in his transfer announcement.
Instead of Charlottesville, home to the University of Virginia, Melton mentioned Richmond, which hosts its own football program, the University of Richmond. The error was quickly flagged by BroBible.com, which highlighted the stark difference between the two locations.
Despite the slip, BroBible was quick to praise Melton’s representatives, the A&P Agency, as highly skilled professionals, noting, “This is not to discredit their standing in the business.”
As a former four-star recruit, Melton leaves Ohio State with a solid resume, recording 15 tackles and three sacks across two seasons. Wherever his journey leads, best wishes to him as he suits up for the Cavaliers.
