In a surprising yet calculated move, Florida State University Athletic Director Michael Alford has announced the return of Willie Taggart as head coach of the Seminoles football program. Taggart, who previously served as the Seminoles’ head coach from 2018 to 2019, will now have a second opportunity to lead the team. Despite his short first stint, Alford expressed confidence in Taggart’s ability to stabilize the program and rebuild the Seminoles into national contenders.

Taggart’s initial tenure at FSU ended with a 9-12 record, which led to his dismissal. He has maintained strong ties to Florida’s recruiting pipelines, which could prove vital in revitalizing the Seminoles’ roster.

 

Mike Norvell’s era, meanwhile, will likely be remembered as a period of unfulfilled potential. Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, the team struggled to maintain consistency on the field, finishing below expectations in key matchups. Off the field, Norvell faced criticism for questionable decisions regarding player management and game strategies.
