4 Astros to blame after Houston crashes out of postseason in shocking sweep

The Houston Astros were swept out of the postseason, ending their World Series aspirations in a disappointing fashion. Four players stand out as major contributors to the team’s abrupt exit.

1. José Altuve The usually reliable José Altuve struggled throughout the series, failing to deliver in key moments. The All-Star second baseman’s bat went cold at the worst possible time, managing only a .167 average over the series. His inability to get on base and set the tone for the lineup left a significant void at the top of the order.

2. Alex Bregman Alex Bregman, known for his clutch performances in past postseasons, was a shadow of his former self. He went 1-for-12 in the series, including several at-bats where he had chances to drive in runs but couldn’t get the job done. His struggles at the plate were a major reason the Astros’ offense couldn’t generate momentum.

3. Framber Valdez Starting pitcher Framber Valdez was expected to anchor the Astros’ rotation but faltered when the team needed him most. Valdez was hit hard in his lone start, surrendering five earned runs in just three innings. His inability to keep the game within reach put the Astros in an early hole they couldn’t climb out of.

4. Ryan Pressly Closer Ryan Pressly, usually a rock in the bullpen, failed to shut the door in crucial situations. In a series where every run mattered, his inability to lock down the late innings cost the Astros dearly. Pressly’s uncharacteristic lack of command led to costly walks and big hits for the opposition.
