Marc Marquez claims he’s making too many mistakes to be in 2024 title hunt

Marc Márquez, the six-time MotoGP World Champion, has candidly acknowledged that his current performance issues are preventing him from being a serious contender for the 2024 title. In a recent press conference, Márquez admitted that his recent mistakes on the track have significantly impacted his chances of clinching another championship this season.

Márquez, who has been a dominant force in the MotoGP series for over a decade, has struggled with consistency throughout the current season. Despite his remarkable skill and previous successes, he has faced a series of challenges, including crashes and misjudgments that have undermined his campaign.

“I’m making too many mistakes this year,” Márquez said. “It’s clear that these errors are costing us valuable points and affecting our position in the championship standings. I’m disappointed because we’re not where we want to be, and it’s frustrating to see the gap growing.”

The Repsol Honda rider’s remarks reflect the ongoing difficulties he has faced, despite showing flashes of his former brilliance. Márquez’s season has been marked by a mixture of impressive performances and costly errors, leaving him adrift in the title race.

Team principal Alberto Puig has expressed support for Márquez, acknowledging that the rider’s recent form does not reflect his true capabilities. “Marc is an exceptional talent, and we know he has the potential to overcome these challenges,” Puig stated. “We’re working closely with him to address the issues and help him regain his confidence.”

As the season progresses, Márquez remains focused on improving his performance and minimizing mistakes. While his hopes of securing a championship this year may be dwindling, he remains determined to salvage a successful finish to the 2024 season and continue his pursuit of future titles.
