Bulldogs to lose young winger for remainder of season

The Canterbury Bulldogs have suffered a significant setback with the announcement that young winger, Jake Thompson, will miss the remainder of the NRL season.

Thompson, who has been a standout performer in his rookie year, sustained a serious shoulder injury during last weekend’s match against the Parramatta Eels.

Initial assessments revealed that Thompson will require surgery to repair a torn labrum, sidelining him for the rest of the season.

The injury is a major blow for the Bulldogs, who were counting on the 21-year-old’s speed and agility to bolster their attacking options.

Thompson has been a key player in their recent games, contributing five tries and consistently creating opportunities on the flank.

Head coach Trent Barrett expressed his disappointment, stating, “Jake has been exceptional for us this season. It’s unfortunate to lose him at such a crucial time, but we have full faith in our squad to step up and fill the void.

The team will now look to other players to cover the gap left by Thompson’s absence as they push to secure a spot in the finals series.
