Peterborough United may have fallen to Leeds United in round three of the FA Cup this weekend, but it was no disgrace for Darren Ferguson’s side to be defeated by a team with lots of Premier League talentAnd scouts flocked to London Road on Sunday not just to watch some of Daniel Farke’s stars, but also the emerging talent that is Ronnie Edwards.
Despite playing football in the third division, Edwards has 22 youth caps for England, demonstrating his ability to reach the top level.
For the time being, Edwards is still battling for promotion at Peterborough, but with 18 months left on his contract, now or in the summer will be the optimum moment for Posh to cash in on their valuable commodity.

There has already been interest from the top tier in the January transfer window, with Crystal Palace reportedly working on a move for the 20-year-old, and the Eagles have already had three offers rejected for the talent.
Fulham ready to target Peterborough’s Edwards.
However, Edwards is not just being pursued by Palace, but also by other Premier League clubs.
According to TEAMtalk, Fulham are now interested in signing ball-playing defender Edwards after sending scouts to see him play against Leeds in the FA Cup.
And, after seeing him up close in action against a higher-level club, the Cottagers are exploring a move for Edwards, who has 12 caps for England’s under-20 squad and averages 79 accurate passes per league games owing to Posh’s penchant to play out from behind.
Marco Silva might see one of his defenders, Tosin Adarabioyo, go in the summer with his contract expiring, and Edwards would be a perfect replacement with his finest years ahead of him.
Fulham will have to compete with Palace for Edwards’ services, but West Ham United are also said to be interested in the young defender, which might complicate matters even more.
£10 million price-tag set for Edwards by Peterborough
Any team that wants to buy Edwards, however, will require a lot of money, as reported by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney last week.
Delaney believes that Peterborough has placed a £10 million price tag on Edwards’ head and will not budge, despite the fact that he will enter the last year of his contract in less than six months’ time.
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony is likely to insist on a loan back to London Road for Edwards if he moves this month, but with Barnet also holding a 50% sell-on clause following his switch in 2020, Posh are pushing the price up, as they would only get £5 million if they sold for £10 million.
