“I Needed It”: Brad Arthur Reflects on Eels Sacking and His Desire to Coach in the NRL Again
Former Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur has opened up about his dismissal earlier this year, admitting that while it was a tough experience, it gave him valuable perspective. After over a decade with the Eels, Arthur’s departure marked the end of an era — one filled with highs, heartbreaks, and a deep connection to the club and its community.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview, Arthur said, “I needed it. It gave me time to reflect, recharge, and think about what kind of coach I want to be moving forward.” Known for his passion, discipline, and player-focused approach, Arthur emphasized that the break has reignited his hunger to return to the NRL.
Despite the disappointment surrounding his exit, Arthur remains proud of his accomplishments with Parramatta, including guiding the team to the 2022 Grand Final. He expressed gratitude to the players, staff, and fans who supported him throughout his tenure.
Now refreshed and ready for a new challenge, Arthur made it clear that he’s eager to get back into coaching. “I still believe I have more to give,” he said. “I’m hungry, motivated, and ready for whatever comes next.”
