NRL superstar Nathan Cleary has quietly made a sentimental property move: he purchased his childhood riverside home on the banks of the Nepean River — the very place he grew up and trained — from his father and coach, Ivan Cleary, for about A$1.7 million.
The four-bedroom property sits on an 892 m² block, purchased by Ivan in 2013 for A$1.175m. Nathan, now firmly established as one of the game’s elite halfbacks with the Penrith Panthers, completed the transfer in June and immediately began an upscale “moody” renovation — introducing a sleek urban-masculine bathroom, recovery room, pool and putting green.
While some recent headlines incorrectly claim a A$300 million purchase, those are spurious and contradicted by property records. What this move does underscore is Cleary’s grounded connection to his roots: rather than chasing ostentation, he’s reclaimed the space where his footy dreams were born. The home is not just a trophy asset, but a legacy-anchor belonging to the family’s history in western Sydney.
