In an inspiring act of compassion and community spirit, NRL superstar Mitch Moses has made headlines once againβthis time, not for his brilliance on the field, but for his heart off it. The Parramatta Eels halfback has personally invested $3.6 million to transform one of his private properties into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless and at-risk youth in the heart of Parramatta.
The new facility, named βThe Blue & Gold Havenβ, will provide temporary accommodation, education support, and mental health services to young people experiencing homelessness. Construction is already underway, with completion expected in mid-2026.
Moses, known for his leadership and philanthropy, revealed that the idea was inspired by his personal encounters with young fans who faced tough circumstances. βIβve been blessed with a career that gives me a platform,β Moses said emotionally. βIf I can use that to give hope to young people who have lost theirs, then thatβs worth more than any trophy.β
The shelter will include 24-hour care staff, vocational training rooms, counseling spaces, and a mini sports complex, designed to help youth rediscover confidence and direction through community and sport. Moses is working closely with the Parramatta Mission, NSW Youth Services, and several local sponsors to ensure the projectβs sustainability.
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo praised Mosesβs initiative, calling it βa landmark moment for social impact in Australian sport.β Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur added, βMitch isnβt just leading on the fieldβheβs showing our young players what it means to lead in life.β
Fans across Australia have flooded social media with praise, describing Moses as a βhero beyond the game.β Teammates, including Clint Gutherson and Junior Paulo, have also expressed interest in supporting ongoing fundraising for the shelter.
This monumental gesture cements Mitch Mosesβs reputation as more than just one of the NRLβs finest playmakersβit defines him as a true champion of humanity.
π βThe Blue & Gold Havenβ is set to open its doors to its first residents in 2026 β a lasting symbol of hope, kindness, and the powerful bond between rugby league and the Parramatta community. ππ
