From Arizona to Chapel Hill: Caleb Love steers Henri Veesaar to North Carolina
The former Tar Heel played a major role in the Tar Heels securing a commitment from Henri Veesaar.
When Henri Veesaar entered the transfer portal this past offseason, the 7-footer didn’t necessarily have a set destination in mind.
In fact, Veesaar did his research on the programs who reached out, especially North Carolina.
When the UNC basketball program came calling, Veesaar phoned a friend, one who had quite the experience suiting up for the Tar Heels for three seasons.
While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Veesaar recalled how he picked Caleb Love’s mind while he went through the recruiting process. Having built a strong relationship with Love as teammates at Arizona, Veesaar had a reliable resource to gain some valuable feedback.
“It (his discussions with Love) has a lot of influence. (I’m) very close with Caleb.
Everything he said checked all the boxes for me. He said it was a great place to be here. They’re definitely going to push me; you’re going to get better here. And I would say that’s all I could ask for.”
Love racked up 337 assists during his three seasons at North Carolina. You can add one more to that tally, as the former Tar Heel showed he’ll always bleed Carolina Blue, regardless of where his basketball journey takes him.
Of course, there are still some people out there that have issues with how his tenure at North Carolina ended. While we won’t get into that whole scenario, we’re here to remind you all that Caleb Love will always be a Tar Heel, as he continues to show it years removed from his time with the program.
Tar Heel fans should thank Caleb Love for the assist in helping the UNC basketball program land one of the best big men on the transfer portal market this offseason
