As the 2025 college football season approaches, the Ole Miss Rebels, led by head coach Lane Kiffin, are actively working to strengthen their defensive secondary through the transfer portal. With key safeties Jadon Canady and Louis Moore departing, the Rebels are looking to reload with top-tier talent.

A major target in their sights is Clemson’s standout safety, Andrew Mukuba. Mukuba recorded 42 tackles and six pass breakups in 2024, playing a crucial role in one of the nation’s top defenses. His addition would be a huge boost to the Ole Miss defense.

Beyond Mukuba, Ole Miss has already added experienced defensive backs from across the country:

Sage Ryan (LSU): A proven SEC veteran known for his versatility.

Antonio Kite (Auburn): An athletic playmaker with upside.

Kapena Gushiken (Washington State): Started 11 games last season with 52 tackles and two interceptions.

Additionally, the Rebels are hosting Jamel Johnson, a transfer from TCU who tallied 71 tackles in 2024. His visit signals more potential upgrades for the defensive unit.

These moves highlight Ole Miss’s aggressive strategy to revamp its secondary and contend in the highly competitive SEC. Fans can expect more portal activity as the Rebels continue building a championship-caliber roster.
