5-Star UConn Basketball Recruit Announces Decommitment

This year, UConn advanced to the second round of the tournament before losing to eventual national champions Florida to end their run in the Big Dance.

 

It was a relative down year for the Huskies after winning the Big East last year, and they finished third in the conference behind St. John’s and Creighton.

 

UConn will go without Adams next season, but they have a chance to add even more talent through the transfer portal or traditional recruiting. Top players like Nate Ament and Acaden Lewis have yet to commit, and the Huskies have already brought in names like Braylon Mullins and Eric Reibe.

 

We’ll see what next season has in store for UConn, as they look to find their way back to the top of the college basketball mountain.The guard attended the prestigious La Lumiere School in Michigan, which has produced several NBA players and top Division I college basketball players. Jaren Jackson Jr., Jaden Ivey and Jordan Poole are among those to attend the high school.

 

UConn won the last two national championships under Hurley, but several top players have moved on to the NBA.

 

Stars like Stephon Castle, Donovan Clingan, Adama Sanogo and Andre Jackson Jr. have all been drafted in recent years, showing the growth and advancement of the program when it comes to recruiting.This year, the Huskies initially added another five-star recruit in Darius Adams, but the guard is reopening his recruitment.

 

Adams tells On3 that he will return to open recruitment after initially committing to UConn in September and signing with the program in November.The UConn women’s basketball team captured a national championship earlier this month, but the men’s team was unable to make it three in a row with another of their own this season.

UConn has been able to re-establish itself as a destination for top recruits under head coach Dan Hurley. The Huskies added yet another top recruiting class this season, bringing in a five-star recruit in Liam McNeeley, as well as two four-stars in Ahmad Nowell and Isaiah Abraham.
