During Ohio States national championship celebration at the Horseshoe, athletic director Ross Bjork hinted at the possibility of a contract extension for head coach Ryan Day.
He is the Buckeye coach for years to come, Bjork declared.
Following the celebration, Ohio State president Ted Carter confirmed that Day and the university have been in discussions regarding a contract extension. Days current deal, signed in 2022, runs through the 2028 season and includes a $9.96 million annual salary, which was boosted by a raise in 2023.
We are working on it. We don’t have any announcements yet, but we have intent, Carter told Eleven Warriors. Iknow Ryan wants to stay here, so we are working on the details.
Days leadership led the Buckeyes to their ninth national title in 2024, following a remarkable postseason run that included victories over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame. With a 70-10 record and an impressive .875 winning percentage, Day ranks as the top coach among FBS programs. The championship solidified his position as a key figure in Ohio States future.
