24 Student-Athletes Sign with WVU Football for 2025 Season
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – June 4, 2025 – West Virginia University head football coach Rich Rodriguez has officially announced that 24 student-athletes have signed grant-in-aid agreements to join the Mountaineer Football program for the upcoming 2025 season.
The newest recruiting class reflects Rodriguez’s continued emphasis on building a strong, competitive program with talent from across the country. The group includes a mix of highly rated high school prospects and standout junior college transfers, addressing key areas of need on both sides of the ball.
“We’re very excited about this group,” Rodriguez said. “They bring athleticism, toughness, and a strong work ethic. Our staff worked extremely hard to identify and recruit players who not only fit our system but also our culture at West Virginia.”
While full details of the class will be released by the university later this week, early indications suggest a focus on bolstering depth at quarterback, offensive line, and in the defensive secondary. Several recruits were reported to have had offers from other major Division I programs, signaling a strong recruiting effort by WVU’s staff.
Rodriguez, who returned to Morgantown in 2024 to lead the program he once helped elevate to national prominence, is aiming to revitalize the Mountaineers and bring them back to Big 12 contention.
“These young men understand the tradition here,” Rodriguez added. “They’re excited to be Mountaineers, and we’re just as excited to get to work with them.”
The new signees are expected to arrive on campus this summer to begin training and preparation for the 2025 season, which kicks off this fall.
