Texas A&M University has announced the 2025 class of its Athletics Hall of Fame, honoring eight individuals for their outstanding contributions to Aggie sports. The inductees will be celebrated at the 47th annual Burgess Banquet on Friday, September 5, inside the Ford Hall of Champions.
2025 Hall of Fame Inductees
Rod Bernstine ’87 (Football): A standout tight end from 1983 to 1986, Bernstine played a pivotal role in leading the Aggies to consecutive Southwest Conference (SWC) Championships in 1985 and 1986. His exceptional performance in 1986 earned him All-SWC and All-America honors.
Caroline Gunn Rogers ’10 (Equestrian): One of the most decorated athletes in Texas A&M equestrian history, Gunn Rogers contributed to three VENC Western national titles in 2007, 2009, and 2010. She also secured three VENC Horsemanship National Championships during her collegiate career.
J.T. Higgins (Men’s Golf Coach): Serving as head coach for 19 years, Higgins led the men’s golf team to unprecedented success, including the program’s first national title. His tenure is marked by elevating the team’s competitive stature on the national stage.
Shamier Little ’17 (Women’s Track & Field): An elite 400-meter hurdler, Little achieved multiple NCAA titles and represented the United States in international competitions, bringing acclaim to Texas A&M’s track and field program.
Shan McDonald ’83 (Softball): A key figure in the early years of Aggie softball, McDonald’s performance helped lay the foundation for the program’s future successes.
Ryan Swope ’13 (Football): As a wide receiver, Swope set multiple school records for receptions and receiving yards, becoming one of the most prolific pass-catchers in Texas A&M history.
Shelbi Vaughan Walley ’16 (Women’s Track & Field): A dominant discus thrower, Vaughan Walley earned All-American honors and contributed significantly to the team’s success in field events.
Joan Wojtowicz ’90 (Women’s Swimming & Diving): Wojtowicz made significant contributions to the swimming and diving program, setting records and elevating the team’s competitive profile during her tenure.
Director of Athletics Trev Alberts expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming induction ceremony, stating, “To be inducted into the hall of fame is a tremendous honor that everyone in this class has undoubtedly earned.”
