As of now, there is no public record of a 7-foot-tall basketball player named David Murphy committing to the University of Michigan over Tennessee or Georgia. It’s possible that there may be some confusion or misinformation regarding this claim. 

However, Michigan’s men’s basketball team has recently secured commitments from several notable players. One such player is Danny Wolf, a 7-foot center who transferred from Yale. Wolf was a standout at Yale, earning first-team All-Ivy League honors in 2024 and leading the league in rebounds and blocks per game. At Michigan, he continued his strong performance, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2025 and leading the conference in rebounds per game. He also competed for Israel at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship, earning an all-tournament team selection.  

Additionally, Michigan has secured commitments from other top recruits, including Oscar Goodman, a 6’7″ forward from New Zealand who enrolled early and redshirted during the 2024-25 season. Goodman is known for his international experience and was named MVP of the 2023 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship.  

While there is no record of a David Murphy committing to Michigan, the team has been actively recruiting and securing commitments from talented players to strengthen their roster.
